SHIRAZ 2021
THE TRANSVAAL SCOTTISH
John George Stewart-Murray, Marquis of Tullibardine, who later became the 8th Duke of Atholl (1871–1942) established the regiment after the conclusion of the Second Anglo-Boer War in 1902. The regimental tartan is the “Murray of Atholl”, except for the pipers who wear the “Murray of Tullibardine”. Both tartans symbolise the regiment’s connections to the Duke of Atholl, and thus to the Atholl Highlanders.
The Regimental March was Atholl Highlanders.
The historical accounts of the Transvaal Scottish are steeped in both tradition, honour and colourful recollections. Dating back to the Natal Rebellion of 1906, through both World Wars and into the present day where the public face of the Transvaal Scottish is often the Pipe Band who continue to uphold their long history of championship wins.
The “Shadow Jock” was created by RSM Neville Bennetts and has become an icon for many of the Jocks. “Lest We Forget”
This range of specially labelled wines has been created by the Transvaal Scottish Regimental Association in celebration of what would have been the 120th Birthday of the Transvaal Scottish Regiment.
