The Shadow March

One of my favourite parades of the year is The Shadow March or Sunset parade held at the Ditsong Museum of Military History in Saxonwold.Unfortunately due to the cloud cover there was no picturesque sunset tonight, there was however the usual cacophony of noises from the birds and animals in the zoo which is right next door .

Remembrance Day 2019

A Photo Journal of Memories

On the 11th hour of the 11th day on the 11th Month.
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,
We will remember them.

The Shadow March aka the Sunset Parade

The Shadow March or Sunset parade held at the Ditsong Museum of Military History in Saxonwold. Unfortunately due to the cloud cover there was no picturesque sunset tonight, there was however the usual cacophony of noises from the birds and animals in the zoo which is right next door.
The 1st Shadow March was held on 11 November 1922 and is held on Armistice Day every year irrespective of the day of the week.
